Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), has gifted Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo a brand-new Land Cruiser Prado in recognition of his historic performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Yulo made headlines by clinching two gold medals, a first for both the Philippines and Southeast Asia in artistic gymnastics.
The luxury SUV was formally presented to Yulo during a ceremony held today at TMP’s manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The event, attended by hundreds of TMP team members, was led by TMP President Masando Hashimoto and Vice Chairman Dr. David Go, alongside other key representatives from the company’s top management and the Labor Union.
As part of the event, Yulo was given an exclusive tour of the manufacturing facility, where he saw firsthand how locally assembled Toyota models, including the Vios, Innova, and the upcoming Tamaraw, are produced by Filipino workers.
“Thank you, Caloy, for being an inspiration to all of us,” said TMP President Hashimoto. “Like the Prado, you are legendary in every way. We hope this gift will Move Your World and support you as you continue to achieve even more.”
Yulo’s gold medals came from the individual men’s vault and the individual men’s floor exercise events. His accomplishments mark a major milestone for the country and Southeast Asia, solidifying his place in Olympic history.
TMP President Hashimoto also shared that Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Chairman Akio Toyoda expressed his pride in Yulo and all the athletes who surpassed expectations to accomplish remarkable feats.
Yulo, who recently returned to Paris to support Philippine Paralympic athletes and engage in discussions on giving back to the community, expressed gratitude to Toyota for their support.
“I know this isn’t just about me,” Yulo said during his speech. “This is for the community that has been behind me every step of the way. I’m honored to be a part of the Toyota family, and I hope this gift will inspire others to pursue their dreams with the same passion and determination.”
Yulo’s new ride is a 2025 Land Cruiser Prado, equipped with a 2.4 turbo engine and automatic transmission. He personally chose the White Pearl Mica color for his SUV.
