Subaru takes center stage at Singapore Motor Show

The Singapore Motorshow opened January 11, 2024 at the  Suntec Singapore Convention. Bannered at the car show were four new models from Motor Image’s Subaru.

The new Subaru Crosstrek e-BOXER Hybrid GT Edition, Subaru WRX Sedan GT Edition, Subaru WRX Wagon GT Edition and Subaru BRZ STI were introduced by Glenn Tan, Deputy Chairman of Tan Chong Industries Limited and head of its automotive division Motor Image.

“We’ve taken Subaru’s distinctive style to the next level with our showcase of vehicles at the 2024 Singapore Motorshow. The aesthetics of the Crosstrek GT Edition, WRX Sedan GT Edition and WRX Wagon GT Editions, along with the eye-catching BRZ STI, are sure to turn heads. Beyond the dynamic performance our owners have come to love, these models offer an elevated and exciting styling inside and out,” said Glenn Tan in his introduction speech.

Well for starters, the Subaru Crosstrek e-BOXER Hybrid, now comes in GT Edition. Subaru gives the new 2023 Crosstrek Hybrid better looks and style with the limited GT Edition trim, available for the e-BOXER 2.0i-S EyeSight Hybrid model.

With this unique GT styling kit, it takes the e-BOXER Hybrid to the next level, combining a perfect blend of pulse-pounding performance with a fantastic look. The exterior enhancements include aggressive front, rear, and side under spoilers, revised 18” alloy wheels and a new roof spoiler that boosts aesthetics and aerodynamics.

The two-tone grey leather cabin reveals GT Edition seats punctuated by sporty red accents, contrast white stitching and perforations that evoke a dynamic and exclusive driving experience. Further enriching its exclusivity, the seats come embossed with the GT Edition logos.

In partnership with renowned engineering firm Giken Co. Ltd, Subaru designer Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi led the development of the Crosstrek GT Edition. His portfolio includes over 12 iconic Subaru production vehicles globally, including the legendary WRX STI and developments of the GT Edition designs for the Motor Image Group.

Motor Image also unveiled the prototypes of the GT Editions of the Subaru WRX Sedan and the Subaru WRX Wagon at the Singapore Motorshow. Subaru designer Masahiko Kobayashi also led the development of both the WRX Sedan and WRX Wagon GT Edition, stressing the WRX’s athletic essence.

Giken is renowned globally for his automotive styling kits and bringing concepts to reality. Kobayashi, for his part, was with the original team behind the iconic Subaru production car designs for over 12 models, including the legendary WRX STI. His involvement in developing GT elements for select Asia-Pacific Subaru vehicles ensures their authenticity to the brand’s racing spirit.

Also revealed during last week’s auto show in Suntec Convention Center were the BRZ STI, one model Subaru enthusiast will definitely be ,looking forward to in the Philippines.The larger Forester E-Boxer Hybrid and Forester GT Edition was also unveiled together withn the WRX Sedan and the  Wagon.

All these models will be seen at the coming Manila International Auto Show in Pasay City this coming April.
