24th Henry Ford Awards expands categories to celebrate Motoring Journalism excellence

Ford Philippines officially launches the 24th Henry Ford Awards (HFA), the longest-running awards program dedicated to recognizing excellence in Philippine motoring journalism.

Motoring journalists are invited to submit their stories, photos, and videos starting January 6, 2025, when the online submission portal opens. Eligible content must have been published or posted between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

This year, the HFA introduces four new categories:

  • Automotive Column of the Year: Recognizing the best and most insightful opinion piece on an industry topic or automotive brand, published in print or digital platforms.
  • Automotive Lifestyle Story of the Year: Awarding the most engaging feature about a vehicle and its impact on daily life. This category seeks stories that move beyond technical jargon, highlighting how a vehicle supports passions or interests, and is open to lifestyle outlets covering automotive topics.
  • Automotive Technology Story of the Year: Celebrating the best feature on automotive technology and innovations, and their effect on the driving experience. This category is open to tech-based news outlets as well.
  • Automotive Electric Vehicle (EV) Story of the Year: Recognizing the best feature on electric vehicles (EVs), whether newly launched or driven in 2024.

These new additions bring the total number of regular categories to 10, including Automotive Vehicle Review of the Year (Article), Automotive Vehicle Review of the Year (Video), Automotive Industry Feature of the Year, Automotive Launch Story of the Year, Automotive Short Form Video of the Year, and Automotive Photograph of the Year.

The HFA will also present three Ford-specific awards: Ford Automotive Feature of the Year, Ford Automotive Video of the Year, and Ford Automotive Short-Form Video of the Year. Additionally, two people’s awards, Automotive Writer of the Year and Automotive Media Outlet of the Year, will recognize the journalist and media outlet with the most HFA wins.

As in previous years, entries will be evaluated through a two-phase judging process, with each phase featuring expert judges from academia, automotive industries, and fields like creative design, photography, and digital publishing.

Winners will be announced at the awards night in May 2025.
