Filipino car buyers are now embracing electric vehicles or EVs. Organizations like the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), as well as laws such as the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), have boosted the growth of the EV segment, all for a greater cause – carbon neutrality today for the future.
The result is the increased number of car brands offering EVs for the fast-growing market. But this posed a challenge of building as many charging stations as needed to support the influx of EVs on the road. Thankfully, some EV car brands are putting in the effort to build their charging stations.
The next question is where and how to find them? The answer – the Evro and Shell Philippines partnership.
Evro is a software solutions provider and Ayala Group partner, specializing in delivering user-friendly EV experiences nationwide. As part of its service, Evro has updated its app to include an EV Charging Station Locator. To further enhance this service, Evro partnered with fuel giant Shell Philippines to integrate its Shell Recharge stations into the Evro app. This allows users to locate, use, and pay for charging at select Shell Recharge sites using just one app, without needing multiple accounts or payment systems.
The Evro app shows real-time charger availability and compatibility, and supports payments directly through the platform. No Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID) cards or separate steps required. The system uses an Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) recognized by the Department of Energy, allowing it to scale as more partners join the network.
For now, EV drivers can access Shell charging points at locations including Seven | NEO in Taguig, Estancia Mall, Robinsons Malls in Manila, Magnolia, and Galleria, as well as key Shell stations on SLEX and TPLEX. These sites feature a mix of fast DC chargers and standard AC chargers.
With this new partnership, EV users can expect more convenient, seamless, and more enjoyable journeys across the country with no worries, no more range anxiety.
