BYD CarsPH launches Sealion 5 DM-i

BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, has officially introduced the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i, a smart, electrified subcompact SUV engineered for everyday practicality and value. Designed for first-time buyers and urban professionals, this new addition to BYD’s Super DM-i lineup delivers reliable performance, long-range efficiency, and a full suite of modern technology.

With its refined crossover design and a strong powertrain, the Sealion 5 DM-i offers an ideal balance of functionality and style. It is powered by BYD’s Super DM-i hybrid system, pairing a 12.96 kWh Blade Battery with a fuel-efficient internal combustion engine. The result is an electric-first driving experience that delivers a combined range of over 1,000 kilometers and an electric-only range of up to 71 kilometers (NEDC). Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and equipped with selectable drive modes, it’s equally suited for city traffic or long-distance drives.

“The Sealion 5 DM-i offers exceptional value for customers looking for more—more range, more features, and more versatility in their first vehicle,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “This is our way of enabling Filipinos to experience electrified mobility without compromising reliability and practicality.”

Efficiency tests conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association Philippines demonstrated the vehicle’s real-world performance. Circuit legends George and Louis Ramirez completed a 1,409.7-kilometer Luzon Loop using just one full battery charge and one full tank of fuel, achieving 25.273 km/l over various terrain conditions.

The Sealion 5 DM-i supports up to 3.3 kW AC charging and features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing it to power external devices—ideal for outdoor use or emergency situations.

Inside, the vehicle features a smart and refined cabin with leather seats, a rotating 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, NFC card entry, and BYD Cloud connectivity with over-the-air updates. The built-in BYD Store offers downloadable apps, from karaoke to navigation, ensuring every journey is as engaging as it is convenient.

The safety package includes Electronic Stability Control, six airbags, rear sensors with a camera, Traction Control, and advanced braking systems, along with Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control.

Priced from ₱1,248,000—with an introductory cash offer of ₱1,198,000 and a down payment as low as ₱88,000—the Sealion 5 DM-i is positioned as an affordable entry into electrified mobility. It also requires only one preventive maintenance service per year and delivers fuel and maintenance savings of up to 40 percent compared to conventional vehicles.

It is offered in four exterior colors—Arctic White, Harbour Grey, Cosmos Black, and Deep Sea Blue—paired with a two-tone beige and brown interior.

“The Sealion 5 DM-i is a reflection of BYD’s commitment to delivering accessible electrified mobility across the Philippines,” said Adam Hu, Country Head of BYD Philippines. “With Super DM-i technology and our growing model lineup, we are enabling more Filipinos to make the shift toward sustainable driving.”
