BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, has formally entered into a strategic partnership with Grab Philippines to promote broader adoption of sustainable transportation. This collaboration was launched through the first-ever BYD Grab Day Caravan, held in June at the BYD Global City dealership.
The initiative highlights BYD’s continued efforts to expand the reach of electric and hybrid vehicles across the Philippines, beginning with the transport sector. By providing GrabCar driver-partners access to BYD’s latest New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), the partnership facilitates more efficient and environmentally responsible transport solutions for Filipino commuters.
Through this partnership, driver-partners can reduce operational and maintenance costs by up to 40 percent compared to conventional internal combustion vehicles, potentially increasing their overall earnings while contributing to a cleaner transport ecosystem.
“This partnership with Grab allows us to bring electrified mobility into everyday transport, making it more accessible to more Filipinos. It reflects our commitment to building a cleaner, more efficient transport ecosystem, one that meets real-world needs at scale,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.
At the heart of this collaboration is the BYD Seal 5 DM-i Dynamic, a fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid sedan designed for high-demand, daily-use scenarios typical of ride-hailing services. Built on the Super DM-i platform, the vehicle delivers up to 50 kilometers of all-electric range and a total range of up to 1,175 kilometers with its hybrid system. With ample interior space, cost-efficient operation, and once-a-year preventive maintenance scheduling, it is positioned as an ideal solution for Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) operators.
“The BYD Grab Day Caravan allows us to bring our electrified vehicles directly to the people who can benefit from them the most. It’s a great opportunity for GrabCar drivers to see and experience how the Seal 5 DM-i Dynamic delivers the kind of efficiency, comfort, and reliability that ride-hailing services demand every day,” said Adam Hu, Country Head of BYD Philippines.
Event attendees had the opportunity to test drive the Seal 5 DM-i Dynamic and learn about its features and performance. Exclusive financing packages were made available through partner banks, with on-site application processing offered for added convenience. Additional financial institutions are expected to join the initiative as it scales further.
“The partnership between Grab Philippines and BYD is a very welcome development not only for the riding public but also for our hardworking GrabCar driver-partners,” said Ronald Roda, Grab Philippines Managing Director. “Through this collaboration, we aim to provide our drivers and operators the best opportunities to earn more and save more with BYD electrified vehicles while at the same time being responsible partners toward a greener and more sustainable mobility,” he added.
With its successful launch, the BYD Grab Day Caravan is scheduled to expand to more cities nationwide, with stops at BYD dealerships in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao during the third quarter. This nationwide rollout further affirms BYD’s commitment to delivering practical, sustainable mobility solutions across the country.
