The all-new Hilux will be debuting on November 10, 2025, which has been confirmed by the teaser video released by Toyota Thailand. Now, reports are stating that Toyota’s midsize pickup truck is set to have a variant that comes with an electric powertrain.
A report by an Australia-based website, Drive, says that an electric Toyota Hilux is happening soon. It has shared a leaked slide from a presentation that was said to be shown to Malaysian Media during the Japan Mobility Show. The slide features Toyota’s 12-month product rollout plan.
The presentation shows two pickup trucks that are blacked-out, but the figure or the vehicles in question suggest that it could most likely be the all-new Toyota Hilux. The interesting detail here is that one of the blacked-out pickup trucks is accompanied by a label that says BEV, which in Toyota speak stands for Battery-Electric Vehicle (BEV).

The leaked presentation could indicate that Toyota intends to make the electric Hilux a reality, and that reality is not far off since the Japanese automaker has been giving hints about its intention for quite some time now. Back in 2022, Toyota revealed the Hilux Revo BEV, an all-electric concept pickup truck designed as an urban-focused two-wheel drive vehicle for short-range use.
With that in mind, the all-new 2026 Toyota Hilux could come with a battery electric variant, with reports stating the upcoming model could feature dual electric motors and an all-wheel-drive system.
Other Toyota models in the leaked presentation include the facelifted bZ4X, the Ativ Hybrid (which has already been launched in the Philippines), and the new Land Cruiser FJ.

As we have previously reported, the all-new Toyota Hilux could still come with a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine, but with minor, significant upgrades. Toyota expects the revamped 2.8-liter turbo diesel to achieve an improved fuel efficiency of at least five to seven percent, thanks to the addition of a start-stop system to conserve fuel.
