BYD Cars Philippines has officially announced its partnership with Sunrise Events for the BYD Ironman 70.3 Davao, happening on March 22, 2026. Ironman 70.3 is a triathlon endurance event that includes three legs, which are swimming, biking or cycling, and running.
Part of the partnership will bring the car brand’s latest model offerings as it will be holding the BYD Tech Tour: Ironman Edition. A special Ironman-decaled BYD Shark 6 DMO will be highlighted at BYD’s display. BYD said that it chose to feature the Shark 6 DMO as a “rugged showcase of electric power designed to engage the high-value triathlon community and accelerate EV adoption across Mindanao.”
Aside from partnering with Sunrise Events, BYD PH will also be pitting two teams at the Ironman 70.3 in Davao in March. BYD PH Managing Director Bob Palance said that the car brand’s partnership and participation in the said endurance event highlights BYD’s commitment to performance and technological excellence.
“Our partnership with IRONMAN 70.3 Davao is a testament to BYD’s commitment to endurance, performance, and technological excellence. By supporting this premier athletic event, we aren’t just showcasing our vehicles; we are proving that sustainable, electrified mobility can meet the most demanding standards of precision and power,” Palanca said.

The car brand’s first team is the BYD Celebrity Triathlon Team, which features Nico Bolzico (Run), Alden Richards (Bike), and Wil Dasovich (Swim). Joining the Celebrity Team is the BYD Triathlon Team, composed of Olympian Jasmine Alkhaldi (Swim), Jens Jacobsen (Bike), and Jennifer Uy (Run).
“BYD partnering with Ironman is a great opportunity to showcase sustainability in terms of sports and car manufacturing. The goal here is really to inspire a global movement where high performance and technology coexist,” Alden Richards shared.
Wil Dasovich noted the similarities between managing energy on the road and on the racecourse: “In Ironman, energy management is everything. You have to be efficient and not just fast. Whether it’s a car reaching a 2,000-kilometer range or an athlete finishing a 12-hour race, both are dedicated to the business of ‘Long Range’.”
The BYD Ironman 70.3 Davao will be happening on March 22, 2026. Organizers said to expect athletes dive into the waters of Talomo Bay, with the majestic Mt. Apo as the backdrop. The bike course, on the other hand, will sweep through the Davao City Coastal Road, while the run course will be the last stretch to the finish line.

Autocar’s Take
BYD Cars Philippines wants to associate its brand with active lifestyles by partnering with Sunrise Events for the BYD Ironman 70.3 Davao. This move is ideal for BYD as it is offering new energy vehicles, such as hybrid and full electric vehicles. As such, associating the brand with an event that highlights endurance and willpower, it makes total sense for BYD to team up with Ironman 70.3 Davao.
The partnership will also allow BYD to showcase its latest vehicle offerings at the event, as it will be holding the BYD Tech Tour: Ironman Edition. This allows the brand to give its products on-ground exposure to the people attending the Ironman 70.3 Davao event. Of note, aside from BYD, Nissan Philippines has previously been participating Ironman events as well.
