Recognizing the Filipino community of Mini 4WD racers, Tamiya Incorporated, through Lil’s Hobby Center and The Brickyard, launched the Tamiya Mach Frame Philippine Cup Special kit. The special Philippine edition Mini 4WD Kit celebrates the 2025 Tamiya Mini 4WD Philippine Cup races.
The hobby of Mini 4WD racing has been well-loved by Filipino enthusiasts since the 90’s. During the height of its popularity, every barangay had hosted its own races, and people of all ages were racing their own Mini 4WD. Although it may not have the same mainstream reception as before, the Mini 4WD racing scene has remained a thriving community of hobbyists since then.

In 2018, The BrickYard started hosting official Tamiya races in the country, and since then, the community has become stronger, and Mini 4WD hobbyists have become more dedicated to races. Recognizing the latest edition of the Philippine Cup, Tamiya launched the Tamiya Mach Frame Philippine Cup Special
We sat down with Lil’s Hobby Center and The BrickYard owner Ferdie Khan to discuss more details about the new Tamiya Mach Frame Philippine Cup Special.

The latest BrickYard special kit comes in an FM-A chassis finished in silver. It also comes with two body cowls, a light blue-plated body, and a red-plated body. Two variations of sticker sheets, featuring the “Philippine Cup” and “The BrickYard” logos, are also included.
The kit also comes with FM-A kit hop-up parts as standard, including the silver-colored ABS Resin Chassis, Low-Friction Resin A parts, Carbon-Reinforced Dish-Type Wheels, and topped by a set of Low-Friction Small-Diameter Low-Profile tires bearing Philippine Cup – The BrickYard lettering.

Prior to the release of the special Mach Frame kit, the Japanese plastic model manufacturer had produced several Philippine special edition kits. Among the most popular ones was the Tamiya Strato Vector Lil’s Hobby Center Limited, launched in 2015, followed by the Gun Bluster XTO Philippine Special Edition in 2018, both of which are now fetching serious pesos from collectors for a complete unbuilt set.
More than just special editions, Tamiya even produced a totally new Mini 4WD kit in honor of the Philippines, the Dyipne, whose cowl was based on the Philippine Jeepney mounted on an FM-A chassis. A special Silver Metallic version of the Dyipne was launched as a Lil’s Hobby Center x Brickyard special model.

As per Khan, the latest special kit serves as proof of the continued partnership between Tamiya and Lil’s Hobby Center, as well as the brand’s recognition of the thriving local Mini 4WD community in the Philippines. The World Challenge Qualifier round of the 2025 Tamiya Philippine Cup, which the special kit commemorates, is scheduled to take place on October 4-5, 2025, at The Brickyard at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
The BrickYard head honcho also shared that the new Philippine Cup Mach Frame is hopefully the first of many special kits released annually in time for the racing event, following the likes of the Japan Cup and Korea Cup, where special kits are released yearly in celebration of the annual events.
The BrickYard will be putting the new Tamiya Mach Frame on their store shelves today, September 25, 2025. For more information about the latest Mach Frame Philippine Cup Special, other Tamiya Kits, and The BrickYard events, visit their official Facebook page, The Brickyard Makati.
