BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, marked a new chapter in its electric mobility efforts with the successful conclusion of its first Tech Tour in Mindanao, held from June 27 to 29 in Cagayan de Oro City. The event introduced residents and stakeholders to BYD’s latest electric vehicle (EV) models, emphasizing the company’s push to make sustainable transportation more accessible across the region.
The three-day showcase featured test drives, interactive product exhibits, and immersive experiences highlighting the benefits of EVs. Vehicles on display included the Seal 5 DM-i, Sealion 6 DM-i, eMax 7, Shark 6 DMO, and the new subcompact crossover, Sealion 5 DM-i.
“This initiative is part of our long-term vision to build awareness around EVs while reinforcing the infrastructure needed to support a full transition to electric mobility,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.

The event follows the 2023 opening of BYD’s first dealership in Mindanao, located in Davao City, as ACMobility continues its mission to extend the brand’s presence nationwide.
In parallel, ACMobility is accelerating the rollout of its Philippine EV Spine program with over 230 EV charging points installed in more than 100 locations across the country as of June 2025. In Mindanao alone, nine EV charging sites are now active, with more planned before the end of the year, including an upcoming site in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
“Our goal is to make EV charging reliable and accessible for every Filipino, whether they’re in a major city or a regional hub,” said Carla Buencamino, Head of Mobility Infrastructure at ACMobility.
The Tech Tour also marked the regional debut of the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i. With its intelligent features, fuel efficiency, and compact size tailored to urban lifestyles, the vehicle is positioned to appeal to practical, younger drivers in Cagayan de Oro and similar markets.
