Hyundai’s first high-performance purely-electric vehicle has just made its global debut.
Dubbed the Ioniq 5, the vehicle was unveiled at the the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Per HMC, the newly-launched offering showcases the N-brand’s move in pushing electrification and also signifies Hyundai’s legacy of offering high-quality mobility.

“Hyundai N spearheads the technological leadership of Hyundai Motor Company,” HMC President and Chief Executive Officer Jaehoon Chang said“N brand’s winning combination of technological know-how and motorsport experience is pushing the limits of vehicle performance, which has most recently resulted in Ioniq 5 N, a gamechanger for electric high performance. Key developments around this vehicle will further strengthen the competitiveness of all Hyundai models going forward. This is why the N brand exists.”
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is built on the electrified-global modular platform (E-GMP) fitted with N’s motorsport-bred technologies. It also leverages N’s expertise to maximize the EV’s high-performance capabilities, and keeping it in line with the N brand’s three performance pillars such as “Corner Rascal,” “Racetrack Capability” and “Everyday Sportscar.”
“Hyundai Ioniq 5 N was developed to take driving fun to a new level by utilizing the latest technologies available. Starting with Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, N brand aims to deliver N’s signature fun driving experience regardless of petrol, electric or hydrogen,” said HMC Vice President and Head of N Brand and Motorsport Till Wartenberg. “To accomplish this, we’ve closely monitored the voices of our N fans in order to fine-tune our first all-electric N with the goal of electrifying the driving passion of our most demanding N-thusiasts,” he added.
Powering Hyundai Ioniq 5 N are the dual electric motors that can deliver a peak churn of 641 horses. Giving the shift feel similar to eight-speed dual-clutch transmission-equipped N cars is the N e-shift system.
Further, it also has a specially designed rack-mounted motor-driven power steering (R-MDPS) system with a higher steering ratio and enhanced torque feedback for a more direct experience to drivers.
Drawing on the i-Pedals deceleration feature, the N pedal intelligent software function guarantees instant turn-in behavior and enhanced throttle sensitivity. The vehicle also has an N Drift Optimizer that helps maintain the drift angle by balancing multiple vehicle controls responding to real-time inputs.
The car’s halting power comes from the of 400-millimeter (mm) front discs with four-piston monobloc calipers and 360mm rear disc brakes.
Moreover, Hyundai Ioniq 5 N also has vehicle-to-load feature — just like the regular Ioniq 5 that is also retailed in the Philippines and other markets.
As it engineered to be an “everyday sportscar”, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is fitted with wing-type rear spoiler and other performance-enhancing elements.
Additionally, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is 20mm lower, 50mm wider, and 80mm longer versus the standard Ioniq offerings.
Inside the Hyundai Ioniq 5 are supplemental N-brand elements seen on the steering wheel, seats, door scuff panels, and pedals.
It is also equipped with usable everyday amenities such as a C-type USB port, a wireless charger and cupholders.
Similar to the usual Ioniq 5, the N trim has sustainable materials such as recyclable paperette door decorative garnish, Bio PET yarn from sugarcane, recycled PET yarn from recycled PET bottles, BIO TPO from sugarcane and eco processed leather.
