Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has introduced the Yaris Cross that is set to make waves in the local market.
But what are the strongholds that the newest hybrid vehicle can offer to buyers in the country? Here are some facts about TMP’s crossover.
1. Diverse offering
The newly-revealed offering comes in gasoline and hybrid powertrain options. Since the company is providing such options, TMP is immediately tapping two markets: those who are already willing to use new energy vehicles and the ones who have yet to make the switch.
2. Peppy powertrain
The two variants of the Yaris Cross are powered by a 1.5-liter power mill (with the hybrid version slapped with an additional electric motor) mated to a continuously variable transmission. Its NEV variation has four drive modes to fit driver’s preferences.
On paper, the pure internal-combustion-engine-powered type can dish out 105hp and 138Nm. Not to be outdone, the nameplate’s top-spec trim has the capacity to deliver 111 horses and 121Nm.
3. Elegant aesthetic
Just like its bigger brother that is the Corolla Cross, the Toyota Yaris Cross exudes sophistication on all angles.
At the front of the top-of-the-line version are the trapezoidal housing for the mesh-type grille painted in gloss black flanked by sharped headlamps. The sleek look of its side profile complemented by the 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Lastly, its rear portion resembles those seen on vehicles found in Lexus’ offerings, thanks to its parallelogram-shaped combination lamps and striking lines.
4. Tech-laden
Further, the Toyota Yaris Cross is heavy on technology. These include the Toyota Safety Sense that covers pre-collision system, automatic high beam lane tracing system, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
In addition, the vehicle also fitted with a host of active safety features such as ABS with EBD and brake assist, hill climb assist, and rear cross traffic alert to name some.
5. Entry-level electrified
As mentioned, the Yaris Cross has a hybrid powertrain set-up that makes it the entry point to the brand’s electrified mobility lineup. With the launch of the nameplate, TMP’s roster grew to seven models.
Priced at P1.598 million, the new addition to its lineup is also the most-affordable Toyota hybrid model in the country to date.
