In China, Geely has introduced the next-generation Emgrand, making one of the model’s most significant updates in recent years. The redesign aims to strengthen its position in the compact sedan category at a time when crossovers and electrified models continue to reshape market demand.
According to a report by Chinese media outlet Autohome, the 2026 Geely Emgrand is built on the updated BMA Evo modular platform, giving the model notable gains in size, technology, and performance. It now measures 4,815 mm long and 1,885 mm wide, with a wheelbase extended to 2,755 mm. The improved dimensions result in a more planted stance and a roomier cabin, which has long been a priority for budget-conscious sedan buyers.
Geely gave the 2026 Emgrand a sharper and more refined exterior. A wider-looking grille with twelve chrome strips, new LED daytime running lights, and clearer body surfacing add a touch of maturity to the design. The profile exudes a sleek and understated look, which is carried over to the rear end where two tailpipes round out the look.

Interior upgrades are even more substantial. The cabin features a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a choice between a 10.1-inch or a 14.6-inch center display, depending on the trim. Moreover, the sedan now runs on Geely’s GEEA 3.0 electronic architecture and uses the Flyme Auto system, enabling smoother app integration, vice control, Huawei HiCar support, and quicker access to functions through a smartbar interface. Storage solutions have been improved, as is the cargo capacity that ranges from 610 liters to 1,779 liters with the rear seats folded.
As for safety, the sedan uses high-strength materials on its body for improved crash protection. Most variants also come with Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suits. The ADAS comes with adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane-keeping assist (LKAS), automatic high beams, among others.

Geely offers two 1.5-liter gasoline engines for the 2026 Emgrand. First of which is a non-turbo version with a CVT, delivering 118 hp and 150 Nm. Next is a turbocharged version with 178 hp and 290 Nm on tap, controlled via 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Geely claims that the next-generation Emgrand’s fuel economy stays below 6.3-liters per 100 km, and that the turbocharged engine enables the sedan to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.
With around 4-million units sold to date, the Emgrand remains as one of Geely’s most important nameplates. The 2026 iteration is positioned to carry that momentum forward, helped by its introductory pricing from from 74,900 to 91,900 yuan (P620,338 to P761,136 in today’s exchange rate).
Of note, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) has yet to make an announcement if it will introduce the 2026 Emgrand, anytime soon. Seeing that the current generation Emgrand has been in local distribution since 2022, even before GMP took over its operations, it’s about time a new generation Emgrand steps in.
